Locust Valley, NY, United States
Maggie is a paddock analyst and host for America’s Day at the Races and Saratoga Live on Fox Sports and NYRA. She has galloped horses for over 20 years and has worked with OTTBs for even longer, with her first being stakes winner Colonel Hill. This year she will be riding her and husband, Tom Morley’s, four-legged son, Ninety One Assault. Purchased privately as a four year old by Tom, the Louisiana-bred son of Artie Schiller would go on to make over $440k on the track, winning three stakes. “Boo” and Maggie are making their second appearance together at Real Rider Cup and trying to get the blue!

Dr Pat
Assistant and wife to trainer Tom Morley, Maggie is the hardest worker in our stable and plays a vital role in our operation. In the mornings, you can catch Maggie assisting around the barn or galloping our horses on the track. In the afternoons, catch her at the races as a paddock analyst for the New York Racing Association (NYRA). Maggie has been a successful licensed trainer and is highly regarded as one of the top analysts in the sport of horse racing. She’s a Maryland-bred and third generation horsewoman: Her grandparents trained racehorses and show horses; her father, Howard Wolfendale, is a multiple stakes winning trainer in Maryland, and mother Tammy grew up galloping horses. Now an elite horsewoman, Maggie has dedicated her life to developing and assessing equine athletes. If she’s not working at the track, she’s likely practicing dressage on the back of her OTTB, Stan, or working with a number of OTTBs as they transition to second careers following their days on the racetrack. The work she does with OTTBs is her passion, and she is grateful to be able to give back to
Meet Maggie Wolfendale – In The Saratoga PaddockMaggie Wolfendale on the job, in Saratoga. On a hot summer day, Maggie Wolfendale was generous enough to grant me an interview while she was at work in the paddock in Saratoga. First, for those of you that don’t know her, Maggie is the Paddock Analyst for NYRA. Her job is to assess the physical attributes of each horse in a race, and then report to the betting public what she sees (both good and bad). I suggested to Maggie that she has become a “rock star” to eager listeners in the crowd. My wife and daughter are both fans, and will hush people around them when Maggie comes on the air. I talk, and they roll their eyes. Maggie talks, and they listen. From my perspective, Maggie brings a unique dimension to racing that is unmatched by any other racing circuit. Every track has public handicappers that read the Daily Racing Form and provide analysis and selections based upon the printed form, video race replays, etc. But what they are looking at is based on the past.
