1. ALEX BLACK is an artist, singer and guitar player. He was born on August 2th in Serbia. Alex has played over 800 gigs with different bands. As a player in these bands, he holds huge number of live shows and festivals (PEACE FEST, EXIT, DEMOFEST…). During his career, he did a lot of session studio works too. Alex just finished his album "Flash of time", a powerful mixture of abrasive and melodic rock and metal. Alex himself handled the production duties, and the possible comparisions that can be drawn might be Danzig, Rammstein, Sisters of Mercy and Ministry, but covered with the Alex's acknowledged unique style. Alex Haley’s Early Days
Alexander Murray Palmer Haley, the oldest of three sons (George and Julius), was born to Simon and Bertha (Palmer) Haley on August 11, 1921, in Ithaca, New York. Six weeks after his birth, Simon and Bertha returned to Henning, Tennessee, and presented Will and Cynthia Palmer with their grandson, Alex Haley. Alex and his mother remained with the Palmers, while Simon returned to Cornell University to complete his graduate studies in agriculture. After the death of Will Palmer in 1926, Simon Haley joined his wife and family in Henning and operated the Palmer business. During this time, Haley listened to his grandmother Cynthia tell vibrant stories about their family’s ancestry. She spoke about “Kin-tay”, one of his grandfathers tracing back seven generations, whom she said was sold into slavery with other Gambian Africans in “Naplis” (Annapolis, Maryland). Alex Haley, Author born
*Alex Haley was born on this date in 1921. He was a Black author and journalist whose books helped popularize the study of Black history and genealogy.
Born in Ithaca, New York, Haley was educated at Alcorn Agricultural and Mechanical College and Elizabeth City Teachers College. He served in the United States Coast Guard, where he worked as a journalist. After retiring, Haley moved to New York City to pursue a writing career. As a journalist, Haley was impacted. In 1962, he interviewed trumpeter Miles Davis for Playboy magazine. Soon after, he interviewed Malcolm X, with whom he later collaborated to write The Autobiography of Malcolm X in 1965. The book had a strong influence on Black nationalists. It also received praise from critics and was widely read in colleges and universities.
Haley then began to research and write his best-known work, Roots: The Saga of an American Family. The book, a mixture of fact and fiction, chronicles Haley's ancestral history and the methods he used to trace his lineage to a West African village. To write the work
