Charytin Goyco is a singer, actress, and television host born on May 23, 1949, in El Sebo, in the Dominican Republic.
Charytin moved to Puerto Rico during the 70's where she met her husband Elin Ortiz, a television actor, and producer. Charytin worked on a show for Wapa-TV everySunday evening until 1985.
Chary became famous internationally when one of her songs, Mosquita Muerta, named after a character she played in a comic section of her show topped the charts in Venezuela, Mexico, and Argentina.
In 1979, Charytin gave birth to her first son, Shalim, also a singer, and actor.
In 1983, Chary made a movie with Mexican actor Julio Aleman called Verano en Nueva York (Summer in New York). Two of the songs from the soundtrack Tu Vida Es Un Suspenso Hasta El Final & Para Llegar, also topped the charts.
In 1986, Charytin worked on a soap opera called Escandalo, alongside Dominican-Mexican actor Andres (Andy) Garcia, and Puerto Rican singer Yolandita Monge. This soap didn't do well, and was cut by producers.
