Erin Arvedlund is an author and financial writer specializing in Wall Street, capital markets and investigative reporting.She is a columnist for The Philadelphia Inquirer and a contributor to Barron’s magazine. She got her start working for Dow Jones News Wires in 1993, then moved to The Moscow Times in the former Soviet Union in 1996, where she wrote about the emerging markets and oil and gas industries. In 1998 she joined TheStreet.com, one of the first real-time online news blogs covering Wall Street, and then to Barron’s magazine in 2000 where she covered options, mutual and hedge funds and public companies. From 2003 to 2005 she worked again in Moscow, this time for The New York Times as a business correspondent and contract writer out of the Moscow bureau. She also worked on Wall Street from 2006 to 2008 at Sanford C. Erin Arvedlund is a financial writer for the Philadelphia Inquirer and Barrons, and author of the book about the rise and fall of Bernard Madoff, "Too Good to Be True" (Penguin). Her newest book "Open Secret" (Penguin) documents the interest rate rigging scandals that emerged out of the 2008 financial crisis. She worked on Wall Street from 2006-2008, at a start-up hedge fund, and in the private client hedge funds division at Bernstein Global Wealth Management, a unit of AllianceBernstein L.P., investment advisory firm. Prior to that, Ms. Arvedlund was a reporter from 1993-2005 for a variety of publications: The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Barron's magazine and TheStreet.com. She also worked abroad at The Moscow Times and began her career at Dow Jones News Service. Ms. Arvedlund has a B.A. from Tufts University; she also spent a semester abroad studying at Leningrad State University, St. Petersburg, Russia. She is married and lives in Philadelphia, PA, with her husband, an attorney, and their two tabby cats, Fenster and McManus.
