Cara Hoffman is an American novelist, essayist, and journalist. She is a founding editor of The Anarchist Review of Books and the author of three critically acclaimed novels, So Much Pretty (2011), Be Safe, I Love You (2014), and Running (2017).
Her fiction and essays have been featured in The New York Times, The Paris Review, Rolling Stone, Salon, LitHub, Fifth Estate, Marie Claire, The Daily Beast, Bennington College Review, BOMB Magazine, Teen Vogue, and on radio at NPR.
She has been a visiting writer at Goddard College, and St. John’s University, and has lectured at Oxford University's Rhodes Global Scholar's Symposium and the Renewing The Anarchist Tradition Conference
She taught writing and literature at Bronx Community College and is an editor at PM Press.

Cara Hoffman
Cara Hoffman is an American novelist, essayist and editor. She is the author of Running, a New York Times editor's choice, an Esquire Magazine best book of the year, and an Autostraddle best queer and feminist book of the year. She first received national attention in 2011 with the publication of the feminist classic So Much Pretty which sparked a national dialogue on violence and retribution and was named best novel of the year by the New York Times Book Review.
Originally from Northern Appalachia, Hoffman dropped out of high school to work as a newspaper reporter and attend graduate school, receiving an M.F.A. from Goddard College in 2009. She has been awarded an Edward Albee Fellowship and a Cill Rialaig Fellowship, has been a visiting writer at University of Oxford, Columbia, and St. John’s and teaches at the Stonecoast M.F.A. program at University of Southern Maine.
At MacDowell in 2017, she worked on her fourth novel, White Light.
