American country music singer-songwriter (1942–2020)
Kay Toinette Oslin (May 15, 1942 – December 21, 2020) was an American country music singer-songwriter. She had several years of major commercial success in the late 1980s after signing a record deal at age 45. Oslin had four number one hits and placed additional singles on the Billboard country chart during that timespan; in addition, she won three Grammy Awards and is an inductee of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame.
Oslin moved to Alabama after the death of her father, then to Texas. She developed an appreciation for folk music while studying theater in college and later started a folk trio. In 1966, she returned to theater after being cast in the touring production of Hello, Dolly! She then moved to New York City, where she continued acting in Broadway musicals and television commercials. At the same time, she began songwriting as a hobby. Best known for her 1987 top ten hit country single "80's Ladies", she also had a series of other top-ten country hits during the late 1980s and early 1990s, four of which topped the US Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.
Oslin was born in Crossett, Arkansas, but soon after her birth her family moved to Memphis, Tennessee and then to Houston, Texas. Oslin considers Houston her hometown.
Oslin initially performed as a folk singer with Guy Clark and then moved to New York where she performed as a chorine on and off-Broadway. She soon began doing advertising jingles which led to appearances in a number of television commercials.
Her songwriting talent was recognized and she began writing songs performed by Dottie West, Gail Davies, Sissy Spacek, and The Judds.

American country music artist K. T. Oslin has released six studio albums, six compilation albums, one video album, seven music videos, 25 singles and six album appearances. Oslin signed a recording contract with Elektra Records in 1981. Both singles failed to become major hits.
