Yasmin Kerr is not used to being stared at, despite the rock-star status of her parents, and certainly not by middle-aged men wielding Nikon cameras.

"Does he have to take a bloody photograph?" she grimaces, defiantly glaring back at the tourist who is happily snapping away. It does no good.

This pretty young blonde in a tiny slip dress, posing for our fashion shoot on a freezing spring day in the middle of Portobello Road, has passers-by, mostly male, transfixed.

Although Yasmin's hair is bleached and she hasn't inherited Hynde's deep, raspy voice, her mother's influence is clear - in the heavy fringe, confident tilt of her chin and the no-nonsense attitude.

Her father's DNA, however, is less obvious. "I know, I don't look like my dad at all" she says later over lunch in the Portobello Gold restaurant.

"I've sometimes wondered, you know ..." She says it totally deadpan, and is joking. But it is true that when Yasmin was born 18 years ago her father was far too wrapped up in Simple Minds and success to be much of a dad.
