Having left Pakistan at the tender age of nineteen, Arieb settled in Croatia for the next thirteen years to come. "Growing up, I went through several music phases," said Arieb who was part of an Irish band in Croatia for five to six years - producing two albums of purely Irish music. But there was something missing. Something that didn't quite feel 'complete'. "I was feeling a level of insincerity. I felt I got too caught up in the stardom aspect and strongly desired to reconnect back with my roots. I just kept going to whatever was pulling me," and so, putting thought into action, Arieb finally moved back to his motherland three years ago.

Then Arieb and the Azhar family moved to Karachi. When the Azhar family moved, Arieb’s brother bought a guitar but never played it. So, Arieb picked it up.

Being young, he dabbled as a singer and used to sing a lot of revolution songs. His songs were a protest against what he believed was wrong in the state.

Then again, the Azhar family moved to Islamabad for Arieb’s teen years.

Arieb Azhar (born 1972) is a Pakistani musician known for his renderings of traditional Sufi poetry and folk songs.[1][2][3][4]

Early life

Arieb Azhar was born on 30 June 1972 at Rawalpindi, Pakistan.[3] He is the second son of Aslam Azhar, known as the father of Pakistani television due to his pioneering work in the early years of television in Pakistan.[3][5]

Arieb Azhar was exposed to folk and classical Pakistani music as well as to western classical music at home.
