Fernandez affirms a will to fight corruption

SANTO DOMINGO.- Saying "I have no protégés" and "whoever does not obey the law will go home", President Leonel Fernandez set the tone for his conversation with the media directors yesterday. During the luncheon, he reviewed the efforts that the Government has undertaken to prevent and combat administrative corruption.

    Veteran journalist and director of El Nacional newspaper, Radhames Gomez Pepin, died yesterday morning, Monday 26 October 2015 at the age of 87. He died in Cedimat after experiencing breathing difficulties.

    Gomez Pepin, who was the director of El Nacional for 27 uninterrupted years, was born in Santiago on 14 December 1927 and was the son of journalist Ramon Gomez and teacher Ana Pepin de Gomez.

    Mourners can pay their last respects at the Blandino Funeral Home on Abraham Lincoln Avenue in Santo Domingo before his body is taken to the building where the newspapers belonging to the Corripio Communications Group are based; El Nacional, Hoy and El Dia. From there the procession will travel to Santiago where he will be buried in the 30 de Marzo cemetery at 4 pm today, Tuesday 27 October 2015.

    He is survived by his wife, Cornelia Margarita Torres and his seven children Radhames Gomez Sanchez, Ramon Gomez Sanchez, Cesar Gomez Navarro, Patricia Gomez Liz, Laura Gomez Liz, Orlando Gomez Torres and Adriana Gomez Torres.
