A Joy-Filled Life
At 78 years young, Mo Anderson remains a beloved leader of Keller Williams Realty. Strong, principled and compassionate, Mo's personal integrity and unending drive are touchstones that have made Keller Williams one of the most successful franchises in real estate history. Originally a music teacher, Mo taught for 14 years before entering the real estate field. Partnered with Jerry Brown and Ruth Honeycutt, she established her first real estate office, a Century 21 franchise, in Edmond, Okla., in 1975. It became the third top-producing office out of 7,500 Century 21 locations in North America. In 1986, the company was sold to Merrill Lynch Realty, where she served as a district vice president until December 1989. In 1992, Mo partnered with Gary Keller, co-founder of Keller Williams Realty, and became the regional director for Oklahoma. In January 1995, she was offered the executive roles of president, chief executive officer, and co-owner.

Mo Anderson served as president and CEO of Keller Williams Realty from January 1995-2005. Since 2005, Anderson has served as the vice chairman for the company. Her focus is on cultivating the unique culture of Keller Williams Realty.
Anderson founded KW Cares (a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization) in 2002 to assist company associates and their families in need and raised millions for Hurricane Katrina relief. She has been named twice as Oklahoma’s Women in Business Advocate of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration. In December 2006, Anderson was named one of America’s Top Twenty-five Influential Thought Leaders by REALTOR® magazine. In January 2007, the Women’s Council of REALTORS® featured her as one of Real Estate’s Most Influential People in an article published in Connections. And, in 2008, Anderson was inducted into the prestigious Hall of Leaders by the CRB Council.
Recently, Anderson spent some time talking with us about the high calling of real estate, business, and leadership.
How/when did you The youngest of five, born to tenant farmers in rural Oklahoma, Mo Anderson was the first in her family to earn a college degree. She taught music in the public schools before entering the world of real estate. Her first Century 21 franchise quickly rose to the third-highest producing out of 7,500 locations in North America. She served on the Oklahoma Real Estate Commission, including 2 terms as chairman. She convinced Keller Williams Realty Co-founder, Gary Keller, to expand his franchise company outside of Texas. Anderson became the regional owner for Keller Williams Realty Oklahoma. In 1995, Mo became the first CEO and co-owner of Keller Williams Realty International. The Company is now the number one Real Estate Franchise company in the world in size, units, and volume. She currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Board.
