Growing up in Ohio, Ricky heard The Beatles on a small AM radio one day and never looked back. Cutting his musical teeth in America's power-pop heartland, Ricky's early bands included PUNK from Cincinnati, legendary Chicago band D'THUMBS, and THEATRE, the group that brought him to Florida by way of Chicago and Detroit (as well as a #6 song on the charts in Michigan). His bands always seemed on the brink of being the "next big thing" but were ultimately denied the Big Deal. All of the above listed bands were hugely successful on the club and concert circuits, touring constantly (sometimes up to 300 days a year) and garnering regular rotation airplay on major radio stations.

Richard Wilcox (born 13 May 1967 in Würzburg, Germany) is a German and United States diplomat and public finance expert. He serves as the Director of Private Partnerships for the United Nations World Food Programme.

In December 2024, in his current capacity with WFP, he took part in high-level briefings on global humanitarian crises with the US Administration, including Secretary of State Antony Blinken, as well as the Dutch Government and Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Reinette Klever.

As a WFP Director, Wilcox also supported the Italian government’s ‘Food for Gaza’ initiative and discussed humanitarian efforts with Italian Vice Prime Minister Antonio Tajani, as featured by Italian TV outlets. Preceding this role, he was UN Special Advisor and Director of the UN Task Force on Russian Trade Facilitation as part of the UN’s Black Sea Grain Initiative which he conceived and helped negotiate in 2022.[1]

Biography:
Rick works to strengthen the school’s rela­tionships with key constituency groups to increase engagement, volunteerism, and philanthropic support. During his tenure at Episcopal, Rick has served as a soccer coach, dorm parent, and advisor.


Since becoming the head coach of boys’ soccer in 2000, Rick has coached numerous players, who have gone on to have successful careers in college soccer, including two players who were recognized as The Washington Post’s All-Met Player of the Year. Rick has coached Episcopal to four league champi­onships and state titles in 2008, 2009, and 2011.


Rick is a graduate of Westminster School in Connecticut and holds a B.A. in English from Randolph-Macon College, where he was a resident assistant, captain of the varsity soccer team, and all-conference selection. Rick enjoys playing in local adult soccer leagues, golf, and disc golf. 


He and his wife Emily Straight, have a daughter, Lilly '18 and son, Eli '21.
